Mr. Richard Filip Rossi 79 of Topsfield, beloved husband of Joan (Kalapinski) Rossi, died October 4th, 2012 following a brief illness surrounded by his family at Ledgewood rehabilitation Center in Beverly. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Horace and Gertrude (Deschenes) Rossi. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He continued his education after returning from the Marines at Northeastern University.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Rossi had been employed as an engineer most recently at Stone and Webster Engineering and previously at General Electric Aero Space.
A longtime resident of the Town of Topsfield and active communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, in Topsfield, Richard was a member of the American Volkssports Association Walking club having walked in all fifty states and nine of Canada's provinces. He was an usher at St. Rose for over fifteen years. He was dedicated to his family, country and church. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his loving wife of fifty nine years, Richard is survived by his Daughters, Linda Meagher and her husband Edward of Topsfield and Stacy-Ann Barshick and her husband Christopher of St. Augustine, Fl, his sons, Scott Rossi and his wife Melinda of Cary, NC and Richard F. Rossi Jr. and his wife Barbara of Norton, his eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Carol Calef.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from The Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Friday, Oct. 12th at 9:15 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass in St. Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield, at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Richard's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
