Robert Coffin Obituary

TOPSFIELD – Mr. Robert J. Coffin 74, of Boxford, formerly a long-time resident of Topsfield, beloved husband of Karen (Hamilton) Coffin, died Monday, November 24, 2020 at Beverly Hospital.

Born in Bennington, Vermont, he was the son of the late Lester A. and Madelaine (Davidson) Coffin, he was raised and educated in Topsfield and was a graduate of Masconomet Regional High School, Class of 1963. Following his service to his country he continued his education earning his degree from East Coast Aero Technical School.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Coffin had been employed for his entire professional career with Distrigas Corporation until the time of his retirement after 30 years of service. He was a loyal, hardworking and dedicated professional, respected by his colleagues in the Energy Industry.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Robert was a kind and generous man. He loved his family deeply and was truly dedicated to his wife. He was an avid golfer and long-time member of Old Newbury Golf Course and played in many golf leagues over the years. He had a passion for cooking and antique cars.

An old school gentleman, who valued hard work and devotion to family, Robert, raised his family of 6 in the same house he was raised in. He loved the Town of Topsfield as it truly was his home. Even with his love of Topsfield, he hated the winters and he and Karen were snowbirds for over a decade in Kissimmee, Florida. They returned home full time to spend more time with their grandchildren, as family always came first. He will be deeply missed.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Karen (Hamilton) Coffin of Boxford, his children, Steven Coffin and his wife, Jaime of Andover, Stacey Cook and her husband, Trevor of Essex and Brian Coffin of Danvers, his grandchildren, Madilyn, Mackenzie and Maegan Cook and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Matthew Coffin and brother of the late Leslie Cordell.
