ANDOVER – Mr. Robert J. Conrad, 86 of Andover, formerly of Salem, loving husband of Moira (Sullivan) Reed Conrad and the late Lorraine (Sobocinski) Conrad passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in the comfort of his home, with his family by his side.
A lifelong resident of the City of Salem, Bob was born on May 7, 1934 in Salem. He was the son of the late Lester and Rose A. (Turgeon) Conrad. Raised and educated in Salem, he was a graduate of Salem High School class of 1953.
A veteran of the Korean War stationed in Incheon, Korea, Bob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Bob dedicated his entire professional career with Raytheon as a Plastic Model Specialist in the Bedford division of Research and Development. He finalized his career with Raytheon in Andover.
A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bob deeply loved his family. He relished in the many activities of his grandchildren and supported their interests deeply. He was devoted to the Boy Scouts’ philosophy, and had been a member of Troop 13 in Salem. He continued to share in scouting activities with his grandchildren. He loved creating memories outdoors, whether he was traveling to Disney World, Nova Scotia, Hawaii, Ireland or Alaska, going to the beach or simply tending to his garden at home. Additionally, he was always ready to learn a new skill and/or hobby such as stained glass or oriental rug making. His love for his family and support of his grandchildren will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife Moira with whom he shared 30 years of marriage, Robert is survived by his daughters, Catherine Conrad of Haverhill and Linda Conrad of Palm Beach, FL, his step daughter, Carol McLeod and her husband Todd of Milton, NH, his step sons, Mark Reed and his wife Sheri of Berwick, ME, David Reed and his wife Ramona of Pepperell, and Raymond Reed and partners Cheryl & Yanna of Dover, DE, his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Reed, Brittany Martin & her husband Joel, Shaun McLeod and his wife Lillie, Ryan McLeod and his wife Taylor, Rosie Reed and Nate Reed, his great-grandson Artie McLeod, sister Eileen (Conrad) Grady and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Bertram Conrad and Eugene Conrad.
ARRANGEMENTS: Bob’s services were privately held. Assisting the family with the arrangements was O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem.
