Robert Harrington Young, 87, of Danvers, passed away May 4, 2012.

Robert, aka Bob, was born in Bellevue, Pennsylvania on April 11, 1925. He was the son of John Warren Young and Flora Olga (Harrington) Young. Bob spent most of his childhood in Newton, MA. On July 1, 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After WWII, he served in the U.S. Naval Reserves until he retired in 1986, with the rank of Commander. In 1955 he graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Civil Engineering and from Northeastern University's School of Business with a Bachelor's degree of Business Administration in Engineering and Management. While studying, he worked for the railroad industry in the Boston area, and after graduation he began a life long career with Sylvania. Subsequently he and his family moved to Danvers, Massachusetts, where he resided until his death.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Warren Grant Young and Priscilla (Hovey) of Niantic, Ct, his sister, Edith Anne (Young) Hutchinson formerly of Danvers, presently of Waterboro, ME; his four daughters, Deborah Diorio and her husband John, of Hingham, MA, Marcia Castle of Danvers, MA, Elizabeth Munzing and her husband Robert, of Gardiner, ME and Andrea Young and her husband George Soffron, of Ipswich, MA. His surviving grandchildren are: Amanda Diorio-Drains and her husband Michael Drains, James Diorio and his wife, Holly Richardson, Joshua Diorio and his fiance, Cresent Danzinger, Michael Munzing and his wife Kristi, Matthew Munzing, Deborah (Munzing) Horsman and her husband Stephen, Elizabeth Castle, Patrick Munzing and his wife Lisa, Andrew Munzing, Nathanial Munzing, and Alexander Soffron. His surviving great-grandchildren are, Morgan Munzing, Maeve Horsman, Logan Horsman, Owen Munzing, and Karen Munzing. Bob was preceded by his brother-in-law Alfred Hutchinson and wife Arlene Miller Young, to whom he was married for 57 years.

ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service is being held at 1pm on September 29nd at Maple Street Congregational Church, 90 Maple Street, Danvers, MA.
