PEABODY – Mr. Robert T. McDonald, 81, passed away on Friday, March 24th, 2023 in Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late James and Florence (Bird) McDonald. He was the loving husband of the late Jane Ellen McDonald, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Raised and educated in Lynn, Robert graduated from Lynn English High School in 1959. Shortly after graduation he married the love of his life, Jane, and they began their family and moved to Salem. He had resided in Salem for 53 years before moving to Peabody this past year. Robert was a printer and employed with the Boston Typographical Union for many years before his retirement.
Robert loved sports and was a diehard Sox and Bruins fan. He loved everything baseball, and coached for the Salem Little League, and also for Salem Youth Soccer. Whenever he could, he would be cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Robert was of the Catholic Faith, and a communicant of Ste. Anne’s Church in Salem. Faith and family were important to Robert, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

Robert is survived by his children; David J. McDonald and his wife, Cindy of Stoughton, Deborah McDonald and her life partner, James Bovio of Peabody, and Roberta Butters of Beverly. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; Kelsey, David Jr., Kevin, Lindsay, Jordan, Justin, and Casey. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane Ellen McDonald.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to his visiting hours which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Square, (at Salem Common) SALEM, on Friday, March 31st, 2023 from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M.
