SALEM – Mr. Robert Walter Snow, 92 of Salem, beloved husband of Marjorie J. (Doane) Snow passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2022 in the comfort of his home, with his devoted family by his side.

Born in Marblehead, Bob was the son of the late Horace Walter and Helen (Dixey Stillman Polley) Snow. Raised and educated in Marblehead, he was a graduate of Marblehead High School, class of 1949.

Upon his high school graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Bob continued his education earning his associate degree in engineering at Wentworth Institute and continued serving his country for another 2 years in the Naval Reserves.  

Bob dedicated his entire professional career to engineering and worked for Whitman and Howard Civil Engineering until the time of his retirement in 1997.

A loving and devoted family man, Bob was a true gentleman who had a soft and giving heart. His style was meticulous, always dressed remarkable whether he was enjoying a cup of coffee in Marblehead or a delicious meal for dinner. Bob was devoted to his faith and was an active member and Warden at the Church Of The Holy Name in Swampscott. Bob enjoyed smoking a cigar, golfing and bowling. He was a longtime member of New Meadows Golf in Topsfield and the Lynnfield Center Golf Course, bowled at Metro Bowl in Peabody and was a former member of the Swampscott Beach Club, the Swampscott Yacht Club as well as the Swampscott Club. Bob enjoyed life, traveling to many places, but a simple man who enjoyed playing scrabble, reading and completing puzzles He will be deeply missed by his family and dear friends.

In addition to his wife Marjorie J. Snow with whom Bob shared 65 years of marriage, he is survived by his sons, Swampscott Fire Captain James Snow and his wife, Donna and Neil Snow of Seaboard Products and his wife, Anita; grandsons, Steven, Robb and David Snow; step-grandsons, David and Dante DelTorto; brother, He leaves his brother Donald Snow and his wife, Betty and many nieces and nephews. Bob was the brother of the late Helen Cashman, Pat McKay and Bud, Gib, and Stillie Polley.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bob’s funeral service which will be held at the Church Of The Holy Name, 60 Monument Ave., Swampscott on Saturday, May 21st at 11 A.M. followed by a collation in the church to be held immediate after his service.
