The family of Rose Frances (DiVenuti) Bruno, age 98, announce her peaceful passing on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Brooksby Village, Peabody. She is the beloved wife of the late Salvatore J. Bruno, MD.
Born, raised and educated in Revere, she continued her education at Burdett College in Boston and earned an RN at Cambridge City Hospital School of Nursing where she met her husband. They married and travelled the country with the Air Force Medical Corps then settled in Medford with their six children.
Rose was outgoing and independent. Moving to Brooksby Village in 2000 gave her many new activities and friendships. She exercised three times a day and was the first person to complete 4,000 hours at Brooksby’s gym.
Rose was a gifted soloist and organist at Saint Anthony’s in Revere. She also was an artist, avid tennis player, pianist, voracious reader, extensive world traveler and a dedicated Red Sox fan. A fashionista, Rose was always dressed, coiffed and bejeweled. Family and faith were tremendously important to her. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of many.
Rose is survived by children, Dawn Colantonio and her husband, Victor of Newton, Gail Lake and her husband, Donald of Danvers, Leila Trepanier and her husband, Ralph of Newton, Joseph Bruno and his wife, Josie of New Jersey, Philip Bruno of Newton and Lance Bruno of Marlborough. She leaves her brother, Alfred DiVenuti and his wife, Pierrette of Stoneham, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and an extended family of nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her brother Arthur DiVenuti II and his wife Rose of Boxford.
Rose’s children are grateful to the staff at Continuing Care on Evergreen Terrace who provided many years of exceptional care to Rose with kindness and compassion.
Funeral services are private. Memorial donations may be made in her name to The Brooksby Village Scholarship Fund, C/O Philanthropy Office, 200 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, MA 01960.
