Rose DiVenuti Obituary

BOXFORD – Mrs. Rose M (Gaita) DiVenuti, 93, of Boxford died peacefully on December 11, 2020 at home surrounded by the comfort of her four children, Artie, Susan, Loren, and Scott.

Rose entered this world on May 19, 1927 to her parents, the late Anthony and Edith (Aucella) Gaita in Revere, MA.  Rose's years in Revere were full of wonderful memories. She would often reminisce about her father playing the mandolin, sledding after a beautiful snowstorm on the hilly streets of Revere with her younger sister, Vera, and the summers spent on Revere Beach.

Rose attended Revere High School where she was offered a scholarship to Fischer College, a secretarial school in Boston.  Rose maintained many cherished and life long friends from her school days.

Known for her beauty and outgoing personality, Rose captured the attention of her husband Arthur, who bet a friend that he could get a date with this special lady.  Of course, he succeeded but unfortunately, their romance was temporarily interrupted when Arthur enlisted in the navy during WWII.  In the summer of 1950, Rose and Arthur were married and began their adventurous life together.

Over the years and four children later, Rose's role as wife and mother was the highlight of her life.  The family followed Arthur's career from Revere, MA to Lynchburg, VA, Topsfield, MA, Scottsdale, AZ where Rose played golf and enjoyed the desert sun, and finally to Boxford, MA where they settled for 52 years.  Rose loved telling stories about their friends and wonderful experiences they encountered with every move.  Some of her fondest memories were the years they lived at Fox Run Rd. in Topsfield, Ma. when she and Arthur were raising their young family.  The neighborhood parties, friendships and lifestyle were always vivid in her memory.  She enjoyed planting her rock garden and cooking for her family.

Being a stay at home mom for many years, Rose decided to go back to work when her youngest, Scott was in grade school.  Rose's infectious personality and overflowing charisma charmed everyone while working as the administrative assistant to the Head of Speech and Hearing in the nursery unit at Hogan Regional Center in Danvers, MA.  Many of her colleagues remained close friends throughout the years.  Upon retirement, Rose loved to keep busy so she decided to work a part-time job at Jordan Marsh in the Fragrance department.  She was often spotted by her grandchildren who were very excited to introduce their stylish and spirited grandmother to their friends.

Rose and Arthur built their dream home in Boxford where Rose loved to entertain.  Her guests went wild for her antipasto, deviled eggs, and egg washed fried cauliflower.  Her grandchildren loved holidays and Sunday dinners at Nana and Papa's on Burning Bush Drive.  Rose would make her delicious Italian dinner every Sunday for the entire family to gather and enjoy.  Holidays were filled with laughter and fun with Rose playing games with her grandchildren.  As much as she made the grandchildren laugh, nobody found her more captivating than Arthur.  He would sit back and let her take center stage (which she loved), with his arms crossed, giggling in the background.

Rose will always be remembered for her zest for life, infectious laugh, colorful clothes, and love for her family.

Those anxiously awaiting their reunion with Rose in heaven are her parents, Anthony and Edith (Aucella) Gaita, and her loving husband, Arthur DiVenuti, Jr. having predeceased her by just 14 months.

Rose is survived by her sister, Elvera Fernandes, East Bridgewater, MA, sister-in-law, Rose Bruno, Peabody, MA and brother-in-law, Alfred and wife Pierette DiVenuti, Stoneham, MA, her children, Arthur and wife, Jackie, Boxford, MA, Susan Ottaviano, Amesbury, MA, Loren Sennott and husband Robert, Boxford, MA, and Scott DiVenuti, Boxford, MA, her 10 grandchildren, and her 10 great-grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: Unfortunately, Rose was unable to have a funeral due to the Covid 19 pandemic. A private family graveside ceremony was held at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA. where Rose is buried alongside her husband, Arthur. When it is safe to do so, the family plans to have a celebration of life, where we will encourage everyone to wear their most Rose inspired attire, the brighter the better.
