MIDDLETON – Mr. Russell R. Sweeney Sr., 78, of Middleton, died unexpectedly August 28th, 2021 at his home.
Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Ralph and Cecile (Compagnone) Sweeney. He was raised and educated in Lawrence.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Sweeney had been employed with the former Malden Mills Company as an assembler in the textile division for many years until the time of his retirement.
A 15-year resident of the Town of Middleton, Russell enjoyed spending his time playing bingo and card games, especially 45. He was an avid Boston Sports Fan and loved to support the Red Sox and Patriots and rarely missed a game. As a young man he and his twin brother, hiked Mt. Washington. He enjoyed the outdoors, watching his television programs and conversations with his neighbors. He will be deeply missed.
Russell is survived by devoted friend and care giver, Ann Weston of Middleton, his son, Russell Sweeney Jr and his wife, Jody of Franklin, NH, his daughter, Michelle Sweeney and her companion, Ray Milonas of Haverhill, his twin brother Roger Sweeney of Nashua, NH and extended family and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held graveside at the National Cemetery, Connery Rd., Bourne, Thursday at 12:30 P.M.
