Sally Rose Obituary

TOPSFIELD – Mrs. Sally Lou (Hilton) Rose, 91, of Topsfield, formerly of Groveland and West Boxford, beloved wife of the late Winston Rose, died peacefully, October 24, 2020.

Born in Schenectady, New York, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Louise (Byam) Hilton. She was raised and educated in Scotia, New York and was a graduate of Emerson College, Class of 1951.

A long-time dedicated educator, Mrs. Rose began her teaching career in the Springfield, Vermont School System and upon moving to West Boxford, began a long career in the Masconomet Regional School District, teaching English at Masconomet from 1971 until her retirement in 1989

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sally was devoted to her faith and community. She was very instrumental and active at her church, Trinity Episcopal Church in Topsfield, where she served as Senior Warden for many years.

Sally and Winston were a great team. They had common interests, goals and values. They were a true love story and cared about each other deeply. They enjoyed traveling and did so extensively. They travelled the world over but were particularly drawn to Switzerland, visiting almost every year. She was loved and respected by many and will be deeply missed.

Sally is survived by her sons, Richard Rose and his wife, Dorothy of Topsfield and Alfred Rose and his wife, Amy Kyle of Swampscott, her grandchildren, Margaret Rose and her husband Joshua Fell, Catherine Rose and her husband John Miranda, Abigail Rose and her fiancée Patrick McNamara, Sarah Rose and William Rose, her great granddaughter, Layla Fell and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral services were held privately with burial next to her beloved husband in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boxford.
