SALEM – Mr. Salvatore “Sam” Zocco, Jr., 81 of Salem, devoted husband of the late Mary Ellen (McGrane) Zocco, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Beverly Hospital.
Born in Salem, Salvatore was the son of the late Salvatore Sr. and Pearl (Teal) Zocco, and one of five siblings. Raised and educated in Salem, Sam attended Salem High School and was a proud member of their football team.
A lifelong resident of Salem, Sam and his wife, Mary made their home and raised their family along the waters of Salem where they found great peace being by the ocean. Sam devoted his career to the boating industry. Sam obtained his certification for Mercury Outboard Motors, and used this knowledge in his early career. Also, within his early career, Sam was a well-known and respected Harbormaster for both Salem and Beverly, and most recently, until the time of his illness, Sam continued to work for his own business, Quality Marine Service, Inc. of Salem. He was truly happiest when with his family, spending time on the ocean, relaxing or going fast on his speed boats. Overall, he valued being on the sea and loved to help others enjoy that passion as well. He will be deeply missed.
Sam is survived by his sons, David Zocco of Salem and Brian Zocco and his fiancé, Victoria Pope of Raymond, NH; his granddaughter, Sarah Zocco of Raymond, NH; his brother, Bill Zocco and his wife, Joan of Beverly, sister-in-law, Patricia Shofner and her husband, Bill of Magnolia and several nieces and nephews.
