PEABODY – Mrs. Sonia S. Kolodziej died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, April 25, 2020. She was the wife of Joseph Kolodziej, whom she shared 66 years of marriage.

Born in Salem, Sonia was the daughter of the late Magdalena and Michael Sedlier. She grew up in Peabody, graduated from Peabody High School, and soon after married her sweetheart Joe. After raising eight children, seven sons and one daughter, she went to work as a Clerk at the Peabody District Court until her retirement in 1998. Sonia was beloved by all those who met her, and her smile will never be forgotten. She enjoyed cooking and knitting, had a passion for gardening, but most of all loved her family.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by her children and spouses including Kenneth and Helen of Peabody; Karen and Robert Pearson of Salisbury; Joseph and Lisa of Danvers; Anthony and Michele of Peabody; Michael and Carol of Phoenix, AZ; Christopher and Michelle of Salem; and Marc and Kiley of St. George, UT; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and her sister Mary DeLucca of Peabody. She was predeceased by her son, Jerome Kolodziej, and her brother, Peter Sedlier.

ARRANGEMENTS: The Kolodziej family will be holding a public Funeral Mass and Life Celebration in honor of Sonia, to which all will be invited, at a date and time to be announced. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the O'Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq.,( At Salem Common) Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sonia’s memory to Memorial contributions at Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. The family wishes to thank the many healthcare professionals who took special care of Sonia over the last several years.
