SALEM - It is with great sadness that the family of Sylvia L. (Della Monica) Flynn announce her peaceful passing on September 8, 2023, to be in her heavenly home with Jesus. She was the loving wife of the late George F. Flynn Jr. and the loving daughter of the late Anthony and Mary A. (Femino) Della Monica.
Sylvia was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, friends, neighbors, church, and community. She was born, raised, and a lifelong resident of Salem. She was a graduate of Salem High School Class of 1957. She continued her education by attending beauty school and becoming a licensed hairdresser. Sylvia was also an inspirational fitness instructor to many in the fitness community, continuing through her retirement years. She was a member of the Salem Garden Club and spent many hours volunteering to add her artistic touch with gardening and decorating. She was also a member of the Salem Council on Aging and the First Baptist Church of Salem. Her final days were spent with the loving and caring staff of the Lafayette Nursing Home in Marblehead.
Sylvia will be missed greatly by her loving children, Michael and Donna Flynn of Ocoee, Florida and Sharon and Richard Felton of Salem, MA. "Mimi" was a loving grandmother to Jessica L. Felton of Salem, MA and Ryan M. Flynn of Ocoee, FL, whom she adored and loved spending time with. She is survived by her brother Peter Della Monica of Danvers, MA, and brother-in- law John Della Monica of Salem, MA. She was the sister of the late Anna Della Monica and Leah Thibodeau. Sylvia leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family, great friends, and neighbors who were all blessed by her love, laughter, and sincere heart. Sylvia always brightened everyone with her beautiful smile, which radiated love.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held in O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Thursday, September 14th at 12 P.M. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, September 14th from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M.
