PEABODY – Mrs. Theresa “Terri” Catherine Ann (Turner) McCarthy, 83, of Peabody, beloved wife of the late John W. McCarthy, died peacefully, Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Pilgrim Nursing Home in Peabody.
Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette (Cassista) Turner. She was raised and educated in Danvers.
Mrs. McCarthy was truly devoted to her family. She began her professional career working at the former Ideal Baby Shoe Company in Danvers. Upon starting her family, she focused on providing a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She took great pride in being a homemaker and supporting her children in all of their activities and achievements. Over the years she had many part-time employments in retail and for a few years at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem. She enjoyed the friends she made throughout her professional career.
A long-time resident of the City of Salem, Terri and her beloved husband lived in Ocala, Florida for 13 years following their retirement. They returned to the North Shore to be closer to family. She loved country music and weekends were spent attending dances and in the summers at Lake Winnipesauke in NH. More recently she enjoyed watching her favorite television shows and movies.
Above all else, family always came first. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, kind grandmother and caring “Double G” as she was affectionately called by her great grandchildren. She would always volunteer to baby sit or take her grandchildren and great grandchildren on adventures and was happiest when surrounded by her family. She had a very close relationship with her best friend, care giver and daughter, Brenda. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her affectionate nature and her devotion to her family.
Theresa is survived by her daughter, Brenda Connors and her husband, Thomas of Peabody, her son, Frank J. McCarthy of Peabody, her step-son, John McCarthy and his wife Marie of Salem, her grandchildren, Thomas J. Connors of Peabody, US Army Sgt., (Ret) Ryan Connors and his wife, Ashley of Fayetteville, NC, Matthew McCarthy and his wife, Kelli of Dallas, TX, Patrick McCarthy of Dallas, TX, Melissa Kimball and her husband, Gregg of Hamilton and Heather Miller and her husband, Thomas of Peabody, her great grandchildren, Tristan, Amelia, Ryan Jr., Mia, April, Iris, Julianna, Jacob, McKenzie and Maddison, her sisters, Mary Ann Walsh of Reading, Catherine Flynn and her husband, Robert of Danvers and Janet Lewis of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frank Turner.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Thursday, September 3th from 4 to 6:30 P.M. A celebration of Terri’s life will be held in the future. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family.
