SALEM- Veronica F. (Bajdek) Malionek, 102, of Salem, beloved wife of the late Stanley Malionek, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Beverly Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Chelsea, MA, she was a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1937 and worked at Chelsea Clock, as well as a hairdresser. She also lived on Houston Ave. in Saugus and eventually became a long-time resident of Salem, working in the mail order department of Daniel Low & Company until her retirement.
Ronnie was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of the former St. John the Baptist Polish Parish in Salem, now known as St. John Paul II Divine Mercy Shrine. She was also a long-time member of the Holy Rosary Sodality and worked at the Friday night Bingo Games for many years. Ronnie was a lover of Polka music and loved to dance the Polka in her traditional Polish attire, and she loved to cook Polish food which she learned from her mother. She had a very close relationship with her sister-in-law, Agnes Bajdek of Lynn, who also lived to the age of 102. For many years, Ronnie was a poll worker for Ward 6 in Salem.
In January of 2019, Ronnie received a proclamation from the City of Salem on the occasion on her 100th Birthday, presented by former City Councilor, Tom Furey.
Other affiliations include the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Veragua Council #76 and the Polish Legion of American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Post #55, both of Salem. She religiously attended the Memorial Day and Veterans Day services each year wearing her PLAV uniform to honor those that served and gave their life.
Veronica is pre-deceased by her brothers Joseph, Henry, Chester, and Steve, and her sister, Catherine. She is survived by her son Anthony and his wife Jan, of Beverly, her son Stephen of Salem, and numerous relatives of the Malionek and Bajdek families.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral which will be held from O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem on Thursday, June 17th at 9 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. John Paul II Divine Mercy Shrine, St. Peter St., Salem at 10 A.M.
