SALEM- Mrs. Veronica H. Poe, 98, of Salem, formerly of Lynn, beloved wife of the late Ernest G. Poe, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Saugus she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Hilda (DeSouza) Conti. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. Veronica continued her education and graduated from Waltham School of Nursing. After graduation, she enlisted in the United States Army where she proudly served her country during WWII.
Following her service to her country, Veronica embarked on long career in Nursing, serving in a variety of settings, ultimately retiring from Lynn Convalescent Home, following a 40 year career. Veronica was kind, generous and gave of herself every day to care for the patients in her charge.
Devoted to her family and faith, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was truly happiest when surrounded by them, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was tiny but mighty and enjoyed being involved in all their activities and participating in their many accomplishments and milestones. She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Lynn and a member of their Soldality. Later she was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody. She will be fondly remembered as a feisty, kind and generous woman who will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.
Surviving Veronica is her daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Sobezenski and her companion, Keith Parsons of Salem, her grandchildren, Michael Sobezenski, Timothy Sobezenski and his wife, Tiffany and Stephen Sobezenski all of Salem, her 8 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Sydney, Ava, Kyla, Dania, Devin, Riley and Caiden and her great- great-grandchild Lucca and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her graveside service which will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn on Friday, September 3rd at 11 A.M. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem.
