Mrs. Virginia (Furnari) Cotter 75, of Beverly, died June 8, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Antonio R. and Ida Rose (Viselli) Furnari. She was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School. She was a lifelong resident of the City of Beverly. Mrs. Cotter had been employed for many years at the former Parker Brother Games in Salem. Virginia matriculated to Gordon College where she had been employed in the food services department until the time of her retirement. Upon her retirement, she was associated with the Paul Lydon Aquatic Center in Danvers as a receptionist until the time of her illness. Having a deep loving of family, Virginia enjoyed spending her time dining and reminiscing with family and friends. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Cotter) Sumner of Beverly and Lisa (Cotter) Tierney and her husband Michael of Beverly, her son John Cotter and his wife Heather of Salem, her grandchildren, Andrew Sumner, Hannah Cotter, Nicholas and Lydia Tierney, her sisters, Linda (Furnari) Scorzoni and her husband Vincent of Beverly and Camille Sullivan of Peabody, her brother, Anthony Furnari Jr. of Salem and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Thursday at 10 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church, Cabot St., Beverly, At 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
