Virginia “Marie” Crist Obituary

DANVERS -Virginia “Marie” (McCarron) Crist 95, of Danvers, MA, quietly passed away on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Albert “Al” R. Crist on November 7th, 2002.

Marie was born November 10, 1926 in Lynn, MA. She was the daughter of the late Eva (Burke) and George McCarron of Lynn, and, the sister of George, James, and Donald McCarron, Alma Collins, and, Veronica “Bonnie” Kelley, who all pre-deceased her. She is survived by her four daughters who will all greatly miss her; Deborah Butt of Potomac Falls, VA, Karen Crist-Mirandi of Danvers, MA, Marijayne O’Keefe of Walpole, MA, Geraldine DeFelice of Topsfield, MA, nine grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Marie was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lynn. After graduating, she was employed by the General Electric Company as a draftsman providing critical support to the American effort during World War II, work of which she was very proud throughout her life.

After marrying Al on July 31, 1949, Marie became a full-time homemaker, a role which she fully embraced and loved. With 4 young daughters, the family moved to her beloved Danvers, where she spent her life devoting herself to her family.  Marie was a quintessential homemaker, typical of her time; a wonderful cook, a gracious hostess who loved to entertain, a creative gardener and flower arranger, and a great teacher who continually supported and challenged her girls.

Marie was a very gifted artist with a gentle, soft-colored palette whose talents really shone through sewing and crafting. Her many artistic interests included tole painting, quilting, cross-stitch, and knitting. For many projects Marie and Al collaborated, Al would do the wood working, Marie would do the painting and decorating, together creating wonderful heirlooms for family and friends to cherish and remember them by.
