SALEM – Mr. Walter L. “Wally” Camire, 74 of Salem, loving companion of Nancy Cashman Freeman for over 30 years, passed peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on April 15, 2021.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Lionel and Ann (Tower) Camire. He was raised and educated in Salem. He served his country as a member of the United States Army. During his service to his country, he graduated from the University of Maryland, earning his bachelor degree. Mr. Camire, was a highly decorated veteran, serving in the United States Army for 22 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer C3. Wally was the recipient of three Purple Hearts.
Wally is survived by his sons, Mark (wife DeAnn) Camire, Waco Tx, Keith (wife Veronica) Camire, North Andover, MA, his daughter, Chanelle (partner BJ Wass) Camire, Melrose, MA, Nancy’s daughters, Stacey (husband Michael) Vaillancourt, Boxford, MA, Jane (husband James) Gagne, Georgetown, MA; his grandchildren, Nicole (husband Scott) Barta, Methuen, MA, Camden, Cole, and Allie Vaillancourt, Kiera, Kalel, Kastiel, Brittani, Kalyee, and Tucker Camire. His brothers, Richard (partner Edel) Camire, Salem, MA, Thomas (wife Kathy) Camire, Salem, MA, his sisters, Claudette (husband Nick) Erban, Haverhill, MA, Elaine (husband Dana) Walker, Laconia, NH and Robert Camire, Salem, MA and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Donald “Dino” Camire and sister-in-law, Luanne Camire.
