MALDEN- It is with great sadness that the family of Wendy Ellen Krawczyk announces her death on December 14, 2021 after a yearlong battle with end stage liver and kidney disease, and complications of Covid.
She is predeceased by her husband Michael J. Krawczyk. She is survived by the love of her life, her son Jacob, whom she raised as a single mom. She is also survived by her mother Dianne Ellen Cook of Salem, and predeceased by her father William M. Cook “Poppa” to Jake. She also leaves her brother William M. Cook and his wife Bridget of Salem (previously of Dracut), along with their children Aaron (AJ), Liliana Mary, and Benjamin William.
Wendy lived most of her life in Salem, and more recently in Malden. She attended Salem Schools, was active in the Girl Scouts of Salem, and ultimately received the Silver Award. In her younger years she played hockey and had the distinction of being the first girl to play hockey for Salem Youth Hockey. She played defenseman as a “mite” and loved to “protect” her brother chip, the team’s goalie. Wendy was also a member of the Salem Marine Society.
Wendy graduated from Endicott College and worked for Hallmark VNA in the HR department and as the HR Director. Most recently she worked for Allcare VNA Hospice and Home Care Services as director of HR and payroll until her retirement due to illness.
She was loved by many, bring known for her kindness, generosity, and great sense of humor. She had a love of fashion, jewelry, shopping, “the beach”; especially for snorkeling and scuba diving. Wendy loved traveling with her family in the winter to the White Mountains, NH, to the Beacon Resort to gamble and relax. Her favorite trip was the 18 day trip to Hawaii with her family which she financed.
Wendy loved to cook and experiment with all types of cuisine, watching cooking shows and cooking with her son Jacob. She was the big sister to Chip and Aaron, whom she deeply loved along with Aaron’s children. She would often hang out and go on vacations with them.
Wendy will be missed by many friends, too numerous to mention, as everyone she met, from the nurses she hired to casual acquaintances, fell under her spell of her smile and kindness.
