BEVERLY- Winifred “Wini” Margaret Sanders, born December 19, 1928 to Albert and Margaret Russian, passed away peacefully at Beverly Hospital on Monday April 5, 2021. She is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Robert “Bob” H. Sanders and by her children, Gwen (Frank) DelNegro, Douglas (Laurie) Sanders and Ellen (Paul) Hansen.
Born in Boston, Wini was a lifelong Massachusetts resident and lived in Topsfield, MA for the majority of her married life prior to moving to Herrick House in Beverly in late 2019. Wini worked at Sennott Insurance and enjoyed being a member of the Salt Box Gallery (Topsfield) and the Topsfield Historical Society. She was an accomplished seamstress who also loved gardening, camping, walking with friends, refinishing furniture and stenciling. She adored her family and had no greater pleasure than gathering with them for holidays, special occasions or even a simple visit. Her family will carry forward cherished memories of many wonderful occasions with her over the years, from birthdays and holidays to graduations and weddings; even visiting her each year working at the Salt Box Gallery booth at the Topsfield Fairgrounds.
Wini is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Michael (Meghan) DelNegro and Abby (Jeffrey) Bergmann, Alex (Kristen) Hansen and Amy Hansen, Harrison, Molly and Christian Sanders. She has three great grandchildren, Chelsea and James Bergmann, and Alexander Hansen. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Mary Beth Hansen and great granddaughter, Laney DelNegro.
In reflecting on their lives together, Bob summed it up best, saying “She was a wonderful wife, wonderful mother, and a wonderful woman. We were married 71 years and I wouldn’t trade one.”
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be a celebration of her life at the Gould Barn in Topsfield on Sunday, June 27th from 1 to 3 P.M..
