GROVELAND - Mr. Winston James Rose 90, of Groveland, formerly of West Boxford, beloved husband of Sally Lou (Hilton) Rose, died unexpectedly Friday, August 18, 2017. Born in Hartford, Vermont, he was the son of the late Anthony and Myrtle (Blood) Rose. He was raised and educated in Hartford, VT and was a graduate of Hartford High School. He continued his education at Tufts University earning his Bachelor's Degree as a member of the Class of 1950 and Boston University where he earned his Master's Degree in Education as a member of the Class of 1959. An honorably discharged veteran he served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Rose began his professional career as an Educator in the Townshend and Springfield, Vermont School Systems. He joined the Masconomet Regional School District in 1971 as chair of the Math Department and retired in 1989. A longtime resident of West Boxford, Win was a Mason and member of the Budleigh Lodge A.F. & A.M. and the Aleppo Shrine Temple. He was a member and President of the Vermont Education Association and enjoyed spending his time traveling, especially to Switzerland, with his beloved wife and family. Dedicated to his faith and Christianity, he was an active member and pillar of Trinity Episcopal Church in Topsfield and Christ Church in North Andover. Always with a big smile and kind word, Mr. Rose's friendly nature endeared him to many. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and will be deeply missed by his community, church, friends and family. Win is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Sally Lou (Hilton) Rose of Groveland, his sons, Richard Rose and his wife Dorothy of Topsfield and Alfred Rose and his wife Amy of Swampscott, his grandchildren, Margaret and her husband Joshua Fell, Catherine Rose, Abigail Rose, Sarah Rose and William Rose and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eugene Rose.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Trinity Episcopal Church, River Rd., Topsfield, Friday, August 25th at 10 A.M.. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boxford. Visiting hours in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Thursday, August 24th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M.
