Ana Lorenza Santiago Vargas

SALEM - Mrs. Ana Lorenza Santiago Vargas, 90, of Salem, and the loving wife of the late Rafael Antonio Gonzalez Perez, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1st, 2026, in her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Moca, Dominican Republic, Ana was the daughter of the late Pedro Santiago and Ana Vargas. She was raised and educated in the Dominican Republic, where she spent much of her youth working as a music teacher.

Music was everything to Ana, a gift she shared freely with everyone as a form of healing. Throughout the Salem community and at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, many found comfort through Ana’s musical talents, her calm and patient demeanor, and her strong faith. A longtime resident of the City of Salem, Ana dedicated her life to her faith and her family. She was always the first to volunteer, especially when it came to her church home, and was a constant source of support for anyone in need.

Ana lived a beautiful life for 90 years and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children: Lourdes, Jose, Ana (Nany), Evelyn, Claritza, Nelson, Libertad, Atenas (Clara), Denisse, and Douglas; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, son and daughter in laws and nephews. Ana was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rafael, and her eldest son, Pedro Ramon.

May our beloved Ana rest in peace. We love you very much. Forever in our hearts.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to Ana’s funeral which will be held from O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Tuesday, January 6th at 9:30 followed by her funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 24 St. Peter’s St., Salem at 11 A.M with her burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.
