PEABODY- Mr. Andrew J. McMullen Sr., 78, of Peabody, beloved husband of the late Ruth (Jones) McMullen, who predeceased him in May, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Sutton Hill Center in North Andover surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Chelsea he was the son of the late Roland and Beatrice (Early) McMullen. He was raised and educated in Chelsea and was a graduate of Chelsea High School Class of 1962 where he was Captain of the basketball team and known for his quote "Quiet in the class…quiet in the hall until he gets his hands of that basketball".

Andrew married Ruth, the love of his life, and together they raised their family in Chelsea.  They were loving parents who put their family first. Providing a loving home for their children was paramount and they were very proud of their children and grandchildren's many accomplishments and milestones. They enjoyed many trips to Salem Willows a favorite place for family fun.

Mr. McMullen had been employed as Manager of the Cleaning Division for Show Case Cinemas in Revere for many years.

An Avid fisherman Andrew loved being out on the ocean, he spent his whole life on the North Shore and took every advantage to be out on the water. He was an enthusiastic sports fan especially when supporting the Patriots. He was out going, strong and determined and will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.

Surviving Andrew are his children, Mary McMullen of Woonsocket, RI, Andrew McMullen Jr. of Peabody and Bridgett McMullen and her husband Bassem Soltani of Beverly, his eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS:  Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers on Monday August 31st from 11 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. All other services are private. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, and practice social distancing.
