S ALEM - Mr. Anthony L. Garro, 72, of Salem beloved husband of the late Diane (Drebit) Garro, passed away on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at Salem Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born in Salem he was the son of the late Leo and Mary (Quarteroni) Garro. He was raised and educated in Salem, was a graduate of Salem High School and continued his education at North Shore Community College.
An honorably discharged veteran, Anthony served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Corporal.
A carpenter by trade, Tony had been employed for many years by New Medico Healthcare Systems, where he travelled the country working on hospital and medical center rehabilitations. He was a man who honed his craft over the years and was often sought after for his expertise in his field. He later took his knowledge and skills to the Pro Desk at Home Depot where he was instrumental to many builders, carpenters, and homeowners with completing their many projects large and small.
Dedicated to his family and country, Tony was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He never met a stranger, only a new friend and was always ready, willing and able to help. His motto was love, honor and protect, not just his country and family but anyone in need. He was an active supporter for the Marines Toys for Tots always making sure children throughout the community had what they needed and wanted for over 20 years and was an active member of the Marine Corp League Motorcycle Detachment the Honorable Few. Tony was kind, loyal with a big heart that endeared him to many and will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.
Surviving Tony is his son, Anthony Garro of Salem and his daughter, Lisa Connell and her fiancé, Matthew DeGennaro of Haverhill, his sister, Loraine "Cookie" Boucher and her husband, Dean of Peabody, Cynthia Prato and her husband, Paul of Farmington, NH and Lisa Cade and her husband, Loren of Wahpeton, ND and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late, Malvina, Mary Lee, Philomena and Diane Garro.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem on Thursday, March 6th, 2025 at 7 P.M. Visiting hours prior to the service from 4 to 7 P.M. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Tony's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
