DANVERS - Arlene Burgoyne, 68, of Danvers, passed away on Tuesday, October 27th, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (McElvanna) McCafferty.
More than anything else in the world, Arlene’s heart belonged to her family and friends. They were her anchor and her greatest joy, and every choice she made centered around the people she loved most. She was a pillar of support for those around her and she could be heard cheering on others, loudest in any crowd. She enjoyed exploring everything the world had to offer, both locally and internationally.
Arlene possessed a vibrant, fun-loving spirit that came alive on the dance floor and in the crowds of classic rock concerts, where she would happily lose herself in the timeless rhythms of her favorite bands.
She had a legendary weakness for chocolate, treating it not just as a sweet snack, but as one of life’s essential daily pleasures.
Arlene found solace in quieter moments, too. She could often be found curled up with a captivating book, completely immersed in other worlds and was notoriously known for always looking for the next best TV show to watch. By her side through it all was Charlie, her beloved gray and white tabby cat, who provided constant, quiet companionship. Binding her colorful personality together was a famously sharp, sarcastic sense of humor—a witty edge that brought laughter to those around her and ensured there was never a dull moment in her company.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her brother, Brian McCafferty, and her husband, William Burgoyne.
She leaves behind her three children, Michael Burgoyne, Devon Milton and her husband Tyler, Kathleen Burgoyne and her husband Anthony Martin; her sister Trisha Henry and her husband Scott; her brothers Thomas McCafferty and his wife Karen, Frank McCafferty and his wife Deborah; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
