SALEM – Mrs. Barbara Ann Canty, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14th, 2023 at Beverly Hospital. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late James and Harriet (Stacey) Bozek. Barbara was the beloved wife of John Canty, with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage.

She was known as the Hat Lady for the head scarves she made for her fellow cancer warriors, and the scrub caps she made for all the nurses and doctors who cared for her and others.

In addition to her husband John, Barbara is survived by her daughters; Cheryl Coletti-Lawson of Henniker, NH, Angela Wetherbee of Marblehead, MA and Jacquelyn Tatro of Maddress, Oregon, along with grandchildren; Grace Wetherbee, Molly Wetherbee, Brianna Blake, and Garrett Blake.
