(Szczechowicz) Hansbury
March 31, 1939 – February 20, 2025
PEABODY – Mrs. Barbara A. (Szczechowicz) Hansbury, 85 of Peabody and the loving wife of the late Robert Hansbury, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 20th, 2025 at her home.
Born in Salem, Barbara was the daughter of the late Chester and Mary (Skrudgis) Szczechowicz. She was raised and educated in Salem, attending Salem Public Schools.
Barbara devoted her life to her family. As a young woman, she cared for her mother through her illness and later through mutual friends met a young Robert Hansbury. Together they created and raised 4 beautiful daughters and watched their family grow and expand. Later in life, Barbara worked at Fishery Products in Danvers alongside her late daughter Barbie, and most recently, Barbara worked as a bus monitor for LBK Transportation for several years until the time of her illness.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and bupie, family was of upmost importance to Barbara. She truly thrived when with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the ultimate spoiler, often gifting her family with handmade ceramics and endless gifts during the holidays. She was a good cook, especially when it came to dishes that required ketchup, butter or salt and loved camping in Kingston, New Hampshire with her family all throughout her life. Her memory will live on in all the hearts she touched. She will be deeply missed.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Pamela Hansbury of Peabody, Julie Mulherin and her husband, Kevin Dunn of Ipswich, and Holly Nadeau and her husband, Joseph of Jefferson, NH; grandchildren; Ronnie Smithers, Erica Tanguay and her husband, Greg, Mary Mulherin, Amanda Mulherin, Katie Mulherin, Britny Emery and Karissa Dunn and great-grandchildren, Shane Smithers, Jordan and Hailey Tanguay, Alysa Pare and Madisyn Emery and her beloved dog, Pipi. In addition to her husband Robert, Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara A. Hansbury and brother, Chester "Chet" Szczechowicz.
