Obituary

BEVERLY - Barbara Louise (Tobin) Pelletier, 65, of Beverly, formerly of Salem, beloved wife of Roland G. Pelletier, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Potocki) Tobin. She attended St. Mary's Grammar School, graduated Salem High School and received her bachelor's degree from Salem State University with a major in Accounting.

After graduating, Barbara enjoyed a successful 35-year career as a Bank Examiner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, earning respect for her attention to detail, strong work ethic, and dedication to mentoring others, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence and integrity.

In her younger years Barbara excelled in tennis, softball, and basketball and had the honor of winning Salem's Youth Tennis City Championship. Barbara remained active in sports well into adulthood, playing for the Ward 2 Social Club softball team and Bertini's Flamingos volleyball team. She found immense joy in the camaraderie, lasting friendships, and, most of all, the post-game recaps at their local sponsor. Even after hanging up her cleats, Barbara remained deeply involved in the game, continuing to run the Salem and Danvers Women's Softball League for many years.

Barbara found her greatest happiness in the roles of wife and mother. Married to the love of her life, she and Rollie were immensely proud of their children and provided them with unwavering support. Barbara was the most devoted fan to her children's athletic careers, traveling near and far to watch her children's games and treasured the bonds she built with the parents in the St. Mary's, Fenwick, Stonehill, and SNHU communities. After Eric and Amy graduated, Barbara remained a passionate supporter on the sidelines cheering on the next generation of family athletes.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, Grammy, Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, and loyal friend. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and adored her grandson, Beau, who brought her so much joy. Barbara was the go-to person for sound advice and thoughtful gestures. Whether it was a handwritten thank you card or shipping a tin of Hobbes popcorn all the way to Tanzania, Barb's generosity knew no bounds. She embraced life's simple pleasures: enjoying vacations in Falmouth, savoring a good bar pizza, cheering on her beloved Boston sports teams, and spending afternoons with friends and family, listening to her favorite Irish duo, Tobin & Leahy.

With remarkable strength and grace, Barbara courageously fought a six-year battle with cancer, defying many odds and inspiring everyone around her with her resilience and determination. Barbara's warmth, kindness, and spirited presence made her truly one of a kind, leaving a lasting mark on the hearts of everyone she touched. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving Barbara, in addition to her husband Roland with whom she shared 42 years of marriage, is her son, Eric Pelletier and his wife, Jaclyn Pelletier, her daughter, Amy Pelletier and her partner, Kaitlyn Ethier, her grandson, Beau Maxwell Pelletier, her siblings, Neil Tobin and his wife, Stephanie, Judy LeDuc and her husband, John, Kevin Tobin and his wife, Cindy, and Beth Tobin and her wife, Suzie Nieves, her best friend Grace Augulewicz and her husband, Ed, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
