IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barry William
Haley
August 18, 1955 – October 29, 2022
NAPLES, FLORIDA - Barry William Haley passed away after a brief illness on October 29, 2022, at 67. He is survived by his loving partner, Maureen Sullivan, and his sons, Matthew and Daniel, his daughter-in-law Amanda, and granddaughter Charlotte, and his partner's children Christian, Patrick, and Kelly, and his siblings Greg, George, Alan, Michael, and Barbara. He was a loving husband to his late-wife Gayle (Ingraham) for more than 30 years before she lost her battle with cancer in 2017.
Barry spent more than 40 years in education, serving as an athletic director for several Massachusetts high schools, including Malden Catholic, Bedford, Wakefield, and most recently Concord-Carlisle, before retiring in the spring of 2018. He was awarded the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Athletic Directors Association (MSSADA) Athletic Director of the Year honor for the 2017-2018 school year for his dedication and commitment to his student-athletes. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and health from Boston State College in 1977 and a Master of Science in sports management from the United States Sports Academy in 1988. He was passionate about working with students and the positive impact high school athletics have on the development of young people. He extolled the virtues of sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity and led by example in all facets of his life.
Haley was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time on the course with friends as a member of Thompson Country Club, Renaissance Golf Club and Treviso Bay in Naples, Florida. He was rarely seen indoors or stationary after his retirement and could usually be found golfing, playing tennis, or riding his bike. He started every day with a cup of Taster's Choice instant coffee and ended most with a scoop of Brigham's chocolate chip ice cream with sprinkles. He lived a full life with no regrets and will be greatly missed.
