PEABODY - Mr. Bienvenido Peguero Lajara, 94 of Peabody, formerly of Bani, Dominican Republic, beloved husband of Eloida Marina (Guerrero) Peguero, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Bani, Dominican Republic he was the son of the late Pircilio Peguero and Candida Lajara (Chela). He was raised and educated in Bani where he developed his passion for baseball and softball. A life-long athlete, Bienvenido was instrumental as a player, organizer and manager of many teams over the years including Pinturas Popular, Liga Cuchurucho de Peravia, the Invernal Dominican League, and the Banco Agricola Team, a semi-pro travel team. Bienvenido was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame into honor for his remarkable skills, and lifelong dedication to sports.

Professionally, Bienvenido had been employed in the Banking industry at Banco Agricola for over 38 years in the loan collections department, where he was known for his expertise, his kind, welcoming smile and his willingness to help others.

A loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Bienvenido was first and foremost a family man. He worked hard every day to provide for his family and was truly happiest when surrounded by them. He immigrated to the United States in 1994, settling in Peabody where he continued to surround himself with family.  He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments and was always there to celebrate their many milestones. Dedicated to the community in which he lived, he was an active member of the St. John's Parrish in Peabody and belonged to several civic groups here and in the Dominican Republic.  He co-founded Fundacion de Amor Mama Chela (Foundation of Love Mama Chela) a charity in memory of his dear mother, was a member of the Bani Lions Club, and Rotary Club. He was an avid Red Sox fan and a staunch supporter of all Dominican players in major league baseball. Bienvenido was the "best" father, grandfather, and friend who will be forever remembered for his skills on the field, his love for his family, and his kind, gentle nature. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving Bienvenido, in addition to his wife Eloida Marina with whom he shared 68 years of marriage (with a vow renewal in 2005), are his children, Altagracia Eunice Peguero De Pimentel, Candida A. (Candy) Peguero, Ibelise Jacqueline Peguero, Joselin Peguero Villar, Daniel B. Peguero, Robert Huascar Peguero and Bolivar Villar, his siblings, Denia Peguero Lajara, Juana Peguero Lajara, both of Bani, Dominican Republic and Pedro Peguero Lajara of Peabody, his 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

ARRANGEMENT: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 5 to 7 PM. PEABODY - El Sr. Bienvenido Peguero Lajara, de 94 años, residente de Peabody y anteriormente de Baní, República Dominicana, amado esposo de Eloida Marina (Guerrero) Peguero, falleció el miércoles 8 de octubre de 2025 en su hogar, rodeado de su querida familia.

Nacido en Baní, República Dominicana, era hijo de los difuntos Pircilio Peguero y Cándida Lajara (Chela). Se crio y educó en Baní, donde desarrolló su pasión por el béisbol y el sóftbol. Deportista de toda la vida, Bienvenido fue fundamental como jugador, organizador y mánager de numerosos equipos a lo largo de los años, incluyendo Pinturas Popular, la Liga Cuchurucho de Peravia, la Liga Dominicana Invernal y el Equipo Banco Agrícola, un equipo semiprofesional itinerante. Bienvenido fue incluido en el Salón de la Fama del Sóftbol en honor a sus notables habilidades y su dedicación de toda la vida al deporte.

Profesionalmente, Bienvenido trabajó en el sector bancario del Banco Agrícola durante más de 38 años, en el departamento de cobranza de préstamos, donde se destacó por su experiencia, su amable y acogedora sonrisa y su disposición a ayudar a los demás.

Amado hijo, esposo, padre, abuelo, hermano y amigo, Bienvenido era, ante todo, un hombre de familia. Trabajaba arduamente cada día para mantener a su familia y era verdaderamente feliz estando rodeado de ellos. Emigró a Estados Unidos en 1994, estableciéndose en Peabody, donde continuó rodeado de su familia. Estaba inmensamente orgulloso de sus hijos y nietos y de sus numerosos logros, y siempre estaba presente para celebrar sus logros. Dedicado a la comunidad en la que vivía, era un miembro activo de la Parroquia de San Juan en Peabody y pertenecía a varios grupos cívicos aquí y en la República Dominicana. Cofundó la Fundación de Amor Mamá Chela, una organización benéfica en memoria de su querida madre, y fue miembro del Club de Leones de Baní y del Club Rotario. Era un ferviente aficionado de los Medias Rojas y un fiel defensor de todos los jugadores dominicanos de las Grandes Ligas. Bienvenido fue el mejor padre, abuelo y amigo, recordado por siempre por su talento en el campo, su amor por su familia y su carácter amable y gentil. Lo extrañarán profundamente todos quienes lo conocieron y amaron. A Bienvenido le sobreviven, además de su esposa Eloida Marina, con quien compartió 68 años de matrimonio (con renovación de votos en 2005), sus hijos Altagracia Eunice Peguero De Pimentel, Cándida A. (Candy) Peguero, Ibelise Jacqueline Peguero, Joselin Peguero Villar, Daniel B. Peguero, Robert Huáscar Peguero y Bolívar Villar; sus hermanos Denia Peguero Lajara y Juana Peguero Lajara, ambos de Baní, República Dominicana; y Pedro Peguero Lajara, de Peabody; sus 21 nietos, numerosos bisnietos, y numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y queridos amigos.
