PEABODY - Deacon Carlos Simon Valentin 40, of Lynn, formerly of Peabody, permanent Deacon of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 9, 2018 at Salem Hospital surrounded by his loving family and in the presence of the Lord.

Born in Lancaster, Pa, he was the son of the late Jose Juan Valentin and Eunice Cintron. He was raised and educated in Arroyo, Puerto Rico and earned his college degree in Engineering.

He was ordained a permanent deacon on September 20th, 2014 and served the Parishes of St. John the Baptist and St. Thomas the Apostle in Peabody/Salem.

He and his wife were dedicated to the ministry to married couples by strengthening and deepening their commitments and family life as well as preparing couples for the Sacrament of Marriage.

A loving husband and father, Simon was always involved in all of Nick's sport teams and he was Nick's #1 Fan. He had a deep love of family, the Word, the Sacraments and teachings of the Lord.

Simon received a great gift of extended life from Dawn Alves who generously donated her kidney in Simon's time of need. Thanks to the gift of life he received,

Simon was able to live a full and active family life and ministry for the last two years.

Simon is survived by his loving wife Angelica Valentin of Lynn, his sons, 14-year-old Nicholas Valentin and 6-year-old Angel Valentin his brother Jerry Quinones of East Boston and his extended relatives and parish family.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Baptist Church, Chestnut St., Peabody, Tuesday, April 17th at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody, Monday, April 16th from 4 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Simon's memory to the: St. John the Baptist Parish - Deacon Simon Memorial Fund, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, MA 01960. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem.
