DANVERS - Mrs. Carolyn J. (Murphy) Talbourdet, 99 of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Andre J. Talbourdet, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, at Putnam Farm Assisted Living surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Boston on March 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Ann C. (Murphy) Murphy. Carolyn was a graduate of Beverly High School Class of 1939 and continued her education receiving her bachelor's degree from Radcliffe College, Class of 1944. She began a career as a secretary at Harvard until the time of her marriage to Andre J. Talbourdet on February 19th, 1955. Together they shared 45years of marriage until his passing in October 1999. Carolyn lived independently enjoying her home in Danvers until her 99th birthday.
As a young woman Carolyn was an accomplished tennis player and along with her husband enjoyed square dancing and were members of Fairtown Squares of Topsfield for several years and were also active members of the North Shore Old Car Club and enjoyed going on many rides.
Community oriented, Carolyn was a tireless advocate for several causes and volunteered countless hours to North Shore Catholic Charities and the North Shore Catholic Charities League sitting on both boards. She was instrumental in the transition of funds and services when the League was closing. Carolyn was also a devoted board member of the Visiting Nurse Association of the North Shore for many years. Decisive, cheerful, with a powerful need to help others, Carolyn will be fondly remembered for her generosity, love for family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving Carolyn is her son, John A. Talbourdet and his wife, Jeanne of Danvers. She was also the sister to the late Janet A. Murphy and the late Virginia M. Downer and her husband, Gerald W. Downer.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62) DANVERS, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 9:30 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers at 10:30 A.M. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Friday, September 9th from 5 to 7 P.M.
