Charlene Gail
(Sprayberry) Emilian
November 14, 1948 – March 12, 2020
DANVERS – Born in Heflin Alabama, Charlene was the daughter of the late Freeman H. and Frances C. Sprayberry.
Charlene was raised, attended school, and graduated from Middleboro Memorial High School in 1966. She was very involved in high school activities which included class secretary, class counsel and co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. She was also chosen as the most popular girl in her senior class.
She continued her education at Salem State College receiving her BA degree in 1972. Several years later she pursued her master's degree at Suffolk University in Boston. Until her retirement, Charlene had a long enjoyable career as a professor teaching at Middlesex Community College.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Charlene was a longtime resident of Wenham and Danvers. She was married to Don Emilian, the love of her life, for the last 22 years.
Charlene enjoyed the simple things in life, reading, going to the beach and especially traveling the Caribbean Islands. She was a hands-on grandmother. Charlene loved decorating for the holidays, taking trips, baking cookies and having fun with her grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Charlene was loved by all and will always be remembered for her quick wit, humor, beautiful smile and giving nature.
Charlene was preceded in death by her late husband Peter Sherry and her brother Michael Sprayberry. She leaves behind her son, Christopher Sherry, granddaughter Kayla, daughter Erin Sherry Prim, her husband Jessie and granddaughter Eden. She also leaves her two stepsons Christian Emilian and wife Kellie and Derek Emilian and wife Kerri and granddaughter Daphne.
She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Sprayberry and wife Ellen Reighley, sisters, Caroline Russell and Bernadette Sprayberry, her nephews Tyson, Ben Matt, Daniel and nieces Kristen and Whitney.
Her legacy is the unconditional love, kindness and support she gave to all.
ARRANGEMENTS: All services are private, a celebration of Charlene's life will be held at a later date. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., Danvers.
