BEVERLY - Claire E. (Woodberry) Dodge, of Beverly, passed away Friday, April 24th with her family at her side at Masconomet Nursing Home in Topsfield at the age of 82. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles Dodge, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
Claire was born in Beverly, Massachusetts to the late John E. and Selma (Nelson) Woodberry.
Though Claire worked for many years at Metronics in Danvers, she really liked to have fun! She enjoyed bowling with friends and family, lighting up every lane with her infectious laughter and spirit, always ready to celebrate each strike as a championship victory.
Her passion for square dancing was legendary---she not only made her own sparkling poodle skirts but led her friends in lively routines everywhere from the historic Beverly Jail House to sunlit fishing piers and on city rooftops. Claire was the heart and soul of every gathering, radiating joy and warmth, making everyone around her feel cherished and welcome.
Claire was a culinary artist, delighting loved ones with her delicious homemade dishes and whimsical cakes that became the centerpiece of every celebration. She especially loved going to the beach, where she relaxed in the sunshine.
Claire is survived by her loving son, Glenn Dodge and his fiancé, Diane Wilder; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and her brother Robert Nickerson from Michigan.
In addition to her husband and parents, Claire is predeceased by her son Garvin Dodge; her two sisters, Edith Lebel and Mary Morse; and two brothers, John Woodberry and Dwight Woodberry.
