Obituary

PEABODY – Mrs. Cynthia (Marshall) Salmon 82, of Peabody, formerly of Hingham, beloved wife of Bardwell C. Salmon, passed away peacefully, after several years of declining health due to Alzheimer's, on Friday, June 14th, 2024. She resided in the Brooksby Village long term care facility since her husband passed away in February of this year.

Born August 24th, 1941 in Winchester, MA, Cindy was the youngest daughter of Ebba Theresa (Gustafson) and Kenneth Stuart Marshall. She grew up in Reading, and later moved to Hingham where she graduated from Higham High School. Cindy went onto Keene Teachers College in NH and then married her high school sweetheart, Bojey Salmon, in 1961. They proceeded to move around the country over a dozen times. While living in Arlington Heights IL, Cindy earned her BA at Elmhurst College, 1969, with a major in Education.  She then spent several years teaching K-6 as well as the handicapped. While her son Douglas Bardwell and daughter Cheryl Louise were growing up in Bloomfield Hills, MI, Cindy spent her time as room mother, Brownie leader, Girl Scout assistant leader and Cub Scout assistant leader, as well as Secretary of the Jr. Women's Club. As their moves continued, Cindy proceeded to participate in volunteer programs such as the New England Home for Little Wanderers in Wayland, MA. Eventually she continued to teach in the Sudbury, MA school system. By 1976 Cindy started her career in Real Estate. Although the moves continued to Edina, MN, then Boulder, CO, and back to Weston MA, that did not inhibit Cindy's career in Real Estate.  Eventually Cindy and Bard (Bojey) purchased an antique farmhouse "Sunset Farm" in Groton, MA.  They renovated, and then operated it as a Bed and Breakfast eventually refurbishing the barn for hosting weddings and other functions. At the same time Cindy and the family enjoyed life at their lake house on Newfound Lake in Bristol, New Hampshire making many lasting memories. Just prior to Covid, Cindy's Alzheimer's started to kick in. She and Bard decided to retire. They sold Sunset Farm and the Lakehouse and moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, Cindy was happiest surrounded by her family. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her loving family and the many hearts she touched throughout her life.

Cindy was predeceased by her late husband, Bardwell Salmon with whom she shared 63 years of marriage, and her son, the late Douglas B. Salmon.  Surviving Cindy is her daughter, Cheryl L. Wyatt and her husband, David of Amherst, NH. Cindy's grandchildren, Christopher W. Gordon of Amherst, NH, Jaclyn T. Shaban and her husband, Bradley of Moseley, VA, her great-granddaughters, Charlotte, Josie and Daphne of Moseley, VA and Cindy's youngest grandson, Austin J. Gordon of Groton, MA.
