Obituary

DANVERS – Dana McManus, 66, of Danvers, formerly of North Reading, beloved husband of Sandra (Mayers) McManus, passed away suddenly on March 3, 2025 in New Hampshire. Born in Winchester, Dana was the son of the late James P. and Gertrude S. (Dahlquist) McManus.

Dana was raised and educated in North Reading, a graduate of North Reading High School. A talented chef manager at Tufts University, Dana had a passion for food that transformed kitchens into culinary havens. His previous roles at St. John's Prep and Hilltop were filled with creativity and zest, reflecting his love for cooking. Dana's culinary skills were matched only by his exceptional green thumb; he could grow anything, nurturing both plants and the people around him with equal care.

Many fondly remember him not just as a chef, but as the life of the party. With an animated personality, stubborn streak, and unmatched sense of humor, Dana was a beacon of light. His love for any sport involving a stick and a ball was infectious; whether it was baseball in high school, wiffle ball in the backyard, softball in adult leagues, or rooting for his beloved Mets, he embraced every moment with enthusiasm.

Music was another passion of Dana's; he enjoyed attending concerts, relishing the performances of his favorite bands, including Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. He found joy in every beat, proving that life should be celebrated with a rhythm that resonates in our hearts.

Dana's love for his family shone through in everything he did, from his spirited participation in family activities to the simple joy of spending time with his loved ones. He was a great dad, always ready to support his children's dreams and interests.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Dana is predeceased by his infant daughter, Nicole Marie McManus, and his brother, James "Rusty" McManus, Jr.

Dana is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Mayers) McManus of Danvers, his daughters, Rachel McManus and her Fiancé Jack O'Donnell of Salem, and Sarah McManus of Danvers, his sisters, Cynthia McManus of North Reading and his twin Daphne McManus of North Reading, his dear friend, Jeanne Ricciardelli, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
