SALEM – Mr. David Michael Boling, 74 of Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Mass General Brigham-Salem Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

Born in New Castle, Indiana on July 29th, 1948. David was one of 13 children, the 9th child and 8th son of Lona and Clara (Taylor) Boling. In 1966, David graduated from Walter P. Chrysler High School in New Castle, Indiana. He served in the United States Army Military Police with an Honorable Discharge in 1971.

Returning home, he enrolled and graduated from Ball State University, Muncie, Indianna. David was employed as an Executive traveling extensively for the International Corporate Community for several large corporations as a Procurement and Contracts Specialist. A strong subscriber of giving back to the community, David enjoyed both being a board member and volunteering for several not-for-profit organizations who supported individuals with developmental disabilities, senior citizens and community clubs.

David had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, playing poker, gardening, watching sports but his favorite was entertaining. He loved being with family and friends and was known as an amazing cook. You name it, David could cook it. He planned and co-hosted the Annual New Year's Eve Celebration for over 150 people and always brought the wow factor. His unique blend of humor, laid-back nature, and capacity for love made him a cherished presence in the lives of his family and friends. He had a vibrant personality that could instantly light up any room and bring joy to those around him. Known for his timing and quick wit, he always brought the right comment at just the right time. He will always be remembered for being that kind and caring person who could make your heart smile.

David was preceded by death by his wife Shirley Boling, his parents Lona and Clara Boling and siblings Erma Hart, Cecil, Lona Jr., Richard, Larrel and Johnny Boling. He is survived by his son George and wife Audrea, daughter Sarah and husband Travis and seven grandchildren.

Siblings Gerald Boling and wife Sandy, Eddie Boling and wife Karen, Roger Boling and wife Suella, Steven Boling and his sisters Vickie Chalfant and Sheila Key and husband Ken. Best and Lifelong friends include Mr. Terry Stroup, Pam Gage and Paul Murray.

ARRANGEMENTS: At the request of the family, all services are private. David has been returned to his hometown of New Castle, Indiana. A celebration of David's life is being planned and will be hosted by Paul at a later date.
