DANVERS – David C. Mason, 75, of Danvers, loving husband of Linda (Sweet) Mason, passed away on May 26, 2026 at Kaplan Family Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Charles W. and E. Kathryn (Nist) Mason.

A proud graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1969, David went on to earn his Associate's Degree in Electronics from North Shore Community College, a foundation that spoke to his naturally curious and methodical mind. He carried that same precision and dedication into his professional life, building a remarkable 40-year career as a laboratory technician at ITW Performance Polymers, a tenure that stands as a testament to his loyalty, work ethic, and the quiet pride he took in doing a job well. When he retired, he left behind four decades of contribution and the respect of all who worked alongside him.

But it was at home, in the garage, and on the open road where David's heart truly came alive. He was a man who loved to tinker, to take something apart, understand it completely, and put it back together better than before. He had a gift for patience and a restless, wondering mind that his family knew simply as his love of "pondering." Whether he was bent over an engine or lost in thought, there was always something turning behind those eyes.

His passion for NASCAR racing ran deep, and few things brought him more pleasure than following the sport he loved. But the crown jewel of David's world was his magnificent 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Cobra, a machine as bold and enduring as the man himself. It was his pride and joy, lovingly tended and carefully kept, a rolling testament to an era of American craftsmanship that David held dear.

Above all else, David was a family man. A loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and, Grampy, he gave generously of himself to the people who mattered most. His family felt his steadiness, his warmth, and his gentle presence in ways that words can only begin to capture. David leaves behind a legacy measured not in accolades, but in the lives he touched, the memories he made, and a 1969 Mustang that will forever carry his spirit down the road.

In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his sister-in-law, Shirley Kennedy and her husband Jim, and his brothers-in-law, Arthur Tucker and James Marshall.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Linda (Sweet) Mason of Danvers, his daughters, Chrissy Sullivan and her husband John of Brentwood, NH, and Corrine Gibbs and her husband Kurt of Myrtle Beach, SC, his grandchildren, Jaclyn R. Mysliwy and her fiancé Orion Wagner, Mason Mysliwy, and Logan Mysliwy, his sister, Debra Marshall, his brother, H. James Mason and his wife Cheryl, his sister-in-law, Barbara Snare, his brother-in-law, Kenny Tucker, his nieces and nephews, Col. Katherine Wagner and her husband Col. Christopher, James Marshall, Brian Mason and his wife Danielle, Brett Mason and his wife Michaela, Marianne Drew, and Karen Driscoll and her husband Barry, many great nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Coco.
