MARBLEHEAD – Mrs. Delina M. (Cormier) (Devoe) Wendell, 97 of Marblehead, formerly of Lynn, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the Lafayette Rehabilitation in Marblehead. She was the devoted wife of the late Emile R. Devoe and Harold Wendell.
Born in Lynn, Delina was the daughter of the late Edmond and Edmee (Landry) Cormier, she was raised and educated in Lynn, graduating from St. Jean-Baptiste High School in Lynn.
As a young woman and working mother, Delina devoted her professional career working for various companies handling bookkeeping and office management. Early in life, she worked for Parker Brothers and Richards Department Store in Salem and Champion Lamp in Lynn. Later in life, she would spend many years in management at Analogic starting in Wakefield and matriculating with their firm in Peabody where she retired.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, Delina was happiest when with her family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Salem Women's Elks and enjoyed playing bingo and card games of any variation with her family and friends. She enjoyed the simplicities of her family, laughter and the comfort of her home and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Delina is survived by her son, Donald F. Devoe and his wife, Elizabeth of Danvers; her daughters, Judith Pellitier of Maine and Irene Dimantides and her husband, William of Florida; her beloved 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren,1 great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her first and second husbands, Emile and Harold, Delina was predeceased by her sons, Richard Devoe and his wife, Joyce and Peter Devoe; her stepson, Phillip Wendell and his wife, Gail; and her siblings, Phyllis Johnson, Valerie Cormier, Timothy Cormier and Lorraine Hendrickson.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Delina's visitation which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Friday, June 13th from 10 A.M. to 12 (NOON) followed by her funeral which will be held graveside, at St. Jean de Baptiste Cemetery, 134 Broadway, Lynn at 1 P.M.
