BEVERLY – Mrs. Dolores A. (Hobbs) Gray, 88 of Beverly, loving wife of the late Robert J. Gray, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in the comfort of her home, due to the loving and devoted care of her daughter, Doreen, granddaughter, Kristine and grandson, Michael.
Born in Salem, Dolores was the daughter of the late George and Loretta (Hosman) Hobbs. She was raised in Peabody, where she received her private education.
Professionally, Dolores held various positions, first starting her working career with the New England Telephone Company. She would then dedicate several years working for the City of Beverly School Department as the Director of Briscoe Middle School Cafeteria until the time of her retirement while also working as a store clerk for Zayres and Ames.
Always starting her mornings with a warm cup of tea, Dolores was adored for her large collection of delicate teacups. She was extremely active at the Beverly Senior Center, enjoying many activities and friendships and was an editor of the Living the Good Life Program through the senior center. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel with friends, notably visiting all the national parks, Ireland and Alaska. She loved her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all.
Dolores is survived by her daughters, Doreen Swartz and her husband, Richard of Beverly, Deborah Hyle and her husband, Steve of Maryland; her son, Glenn Gray and his wife, Kim of New Hampshire; daughter-in-law, Elaine Gray of Beverly; grandchildren, Robert III, Tara, Kristine, Michael, Danielle, Sean, Brigitte, Mitch, and Brittany. Dolores was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert; her son, Robert Gray, Jr.; and granddaughters, Melinda and Rachel.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dolores' funeral which will be held from O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Monday, September 16th at 9:30 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly at 10:30 A.M. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, September 15th from 3 to 6 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores name may be made to the MSPCA at Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
