Obituary

SALEM - Mrs. Dominga Barletta de Zatorre, 99, beloved wife of the late Alfredo E. Zatorre, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 at Salem Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dominga (Mimi) was the daughter of Miguel and Carmen Barletta. Mimi and her family immigrated to the United States where she settled in Salem, Massachusetts. Mimi and Alfredo met as teenagers and later married in 1947 in the Iglesia de la Medalla Milagrosa. They shared 67 years of marriage. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1997 with family and friends at the PEM, in Salem, MA and again in La Confiteria Los Dos Amigos in Buenos Aires.

Mimi spent her time maintaining the household, raising her two children, attending local social clubs, and teaching international cooking courses in the continuing education programs in the surrounding school districts. She enjoyed sharing her culinary talents while she welcomed new friendships into her social life. She was an impeccable homemaker and an incredible hostess to many gatherings and celebrations. Mimi often opened her home to friends and guests from all over the world. She entertained in her home throughout her life. She prepared delicious meals with a professional flair. Her dining room table symbolized the family union. Mimi also genuinely relished the time spent with her family where she shared countless plates, recipes and parrilladas during her frequent visits to Argentina. Her delectable, rich, creative dishes were always prepared with kindness, passion, and love.

Alfredo and Mimi were dedicated members of social clubs that included: LULAC, Portuguese Clubs, The Spanish Lions Club and El Club Cultural de España among others. Mimi's role was often Director of Social Events. Mimi and Alfredo also enjoyed sightseeing across the globe. Their extensive traveling adventures around the world included tours with their beloved family members, Tita and Rosario. Together, they visited Italy, France, Turkey, Denmark, Scotland, Portugal, Spain, England, Puerto Rico and many more.

Mimi's family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the many friends and queridos amigos who provided companionship, love, laughter, compassion and cariño and unconditional support.

Mimi is survived by her son, Dr. Robert Zatorre and his wife Dr. Virginia Penhune from Montreal, Canada, her daughter, Lillian Zatorre from Salem, MA, her beloved grandchildren, Evan Zatorre from The Netherlands and Alex Zatorre from Burlington, VT. She also leaves behind loving family in Argentina. Mimi was predeceased by her precious son, Angel Alfredo Zatorre.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her visiting hours which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq. (at Salem Common) SALEM on Friday, December 29th, 2023 from 3 to 7 P.M.
