SALEM - Mrs. Dorothy (Roderick) Thompson 86, of Raymond, N.H., formerly of Salem & Hamilton, beloved wife of the late Lyman Whitcomb and the late Kenneth Thompson, died Wednesday evening following a short illness.

Born in Salem she was the daughter of the late Perly and Dorothy (Foley) Roderick. She was raised and educated in Salem and attended the former St. Mary's Grammar School in Salem. She continued her education at Salem High School.

Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother for many years, later in life she became an inspector for the former Western Electric Company and was later associated with the Sylvania Company.

A longtime resident of the City of Salem and the Town of Hamilton, Dorothy was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Salem. She was an avid card player who loved bingo and going to the casino with her family and friends. A talented seamstress and knitter, Dorothy provided many garments for her family to wear and cherish over the years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Deborah Tower and her husband Richard of Raymond, N.H., Dorothy Vidal and her husband Christopher of Gloucester, Alice Whitcomb and her companion Robert McHugh of Reading, Helen Amnott and her husband Dennis of Londonderry, N.H., Lisa Pivarunas of Raymond, N.H., her sons, Frank Whitcomb of Reading, Earle L. Whitcomb Jr., and his wife Roberta of Salem and Robert Thompson of Peabody, her 19 grandchildren, her 47 great grandchildren, her sisters, Mary Burris of Wichita, Kansas and Helen Putnam of Salem, her brothers Perly Roderick of Danvers and Robert Roderick of Portland, Maine and several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was also the sister of the late Joseph and Frederick Roderick. Also her long time companion and fiance, Rudy Pearse of Raymond, NH.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Tuesday at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem, Visiting hours Monday from 4 to 7 P.M.
