BEVERLY - Mr. Edmond Joseph Theriault Jr. 82, of Beverly beloved husband of Constance (Montoni) Theriault, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Beverly Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late Edmond J. Sr. and Eileen (Harrington) Theriault. He was raised and educated in Beverly and attended Beverly High School. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army in the Artillery Division. Mr. Theriault began his professional career in the construction industry and worked for many years with P.A. Fiore Construction of Beverly. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator. More recently, he had been employed for over 20 years with the City of Beverly as a Foreman in the Public Works Department until the time of his retirement in 1987. In retirement he was the proprietor of his own tree pruning and landscape company. Always with a grin on his face and a story to tell, Ed endeared himself to many. He was easy to smile, quick to joke and impossible not to like. He always put family first and had a deep love for his wife, children and grandchildren. He had great stories to tell and built memories for his family that will last through the generations. Ed enjoyed working with his hands. He was a talented carpenter and spent many hours in his home workshop building beautiful furniture, whirly birds and collectors pieces for his beloved wife and other family and friends. They are treasures that will always remind them of Papa. Ed was the type of man if something had to get done, he did it himself. He did many major and little projects on his home, of which he was very proud. He was active in civic, athletic and social circles in the City of Beverly. As a younger man he volunteered and coached many Beverly Little League and Midget football teams. In retirement he was often spotted cheering on his beloved grandchildren at Beverly Panthers Football Games and other sporting and community events. He was ultimately proud of all his children and grandchildren. The love of his life was Connie and they enjoyed spending their time together. They travelled in the motor home across country more than once. They spent their summers camping and were the best of friends. Their love has set a great example for their family. Ed was a selfless man who enjoyed helping others in their time of need. He did so without fan fair or recognition. It was gratitude enough for him to see others smile. He was a special man who dedicated his life to his family. He will be eternally missed. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Constance (Montoni) Theriault of Beverly, his sons, Michael Theriault and his wife Ann of Feeding Hills and Mark Theriault and his wife Bettyann of Beverly, his daughters, Judy Knight of Beverly and Eileen Johnson and her husband Donnie of Beverly, his grandchildren, Michael, Erin and Kelly Theriault, Mark Jr. and Nicholas Theriault, Jessica and Matthew Knight and DJ and Amanda Johnson, a great granddaughter Grace Gilbert, his sister, Jane Roberts of Mashpee, his loving canine companion, Bella and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur Theriault.
