ORMOND BEACH, FLORIDA - Mr. Edward Paul Burns, 82 of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born on October, 10, 1943, Ed was the son of the late Robert and Noreen Francis (Nestor) Burns. He was raised and educated in Arlington and was a proud graduate of Matignon High School, class of 1961.

Ed and his predeceased wife of 50+ years, Claire Burns, raised their son, Mark, and daughter. Kristen, in Milford, MA.

Professionally, Ed has a profound career as a federal employee and achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5 in the Massachusetts National Guard to which he actively served in until 2003.

Ed loved spending time at Loon Mountain in NH excelling in horseshoes. He was also a big fan of The Cape where he visited his sister, nieces, and parents. Upon retirement, Ed moved to Ormond Beach Florida where he was the head of the horseshoe league, a devout catholic and eucharistic minister at his parish, volunteered his time driving cancer patients, and was the founder and leader of the ROMEO club (Retired Old Men Eating Out).

Above all else, Ed was a loving and supportive dad, grandfather, family man and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ed is survived by his son, Mark Burns and his wife, Kathy Harney; his daughter, Kristen Bradanese and her husband, David Bradanese; his adored grandchildren, Kathryn, Patrick, Karah and Maddie and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his big brother, Bobby Burns and sister, Sheila Burns.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ed’s funeral Mass which will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 1 Margin St., Peabody on Tuesday, August 4th at 11:30 A.M. with a reception to be held at the Danversport, 161 Elliot St., Danvers immediately following his Mass. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O’Donnell Cremations - Funerals - Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS.
