Edward A. "Butch" Cameron

MIDDLETON-Mr. Edward A. “Butch” Cameron Jr. 83, of Middleton, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Houghton) Cameron, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at his home on Mill Street fulfilling his wish to leave this world on the street he was born on and lived for his whole life.

Born in Middleton he was the son of the late Edward Sr. and Irene (Bouchard) (Cameron) Andrews. He was raised and educated in Middleton and was a graduate of Masconoment Regional High School.

An honorably discharged veteran Edward proudly served his country as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Ed attained the rank of Staff Seargent and received several medals and commendations for his brave service.

Upon his return home from the Service Ed began his career with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the John T. Berry Rehabilitation Center in North Reading as a driver. After hard work and training he transitioned to Boiler Room Fireman at Danvers State Hospital from where he retired. In his retirement Ed also drove for Salem Metal in Middleton and Boston Lawnmower in North Reading.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ed worked hard every day to support his family. He was proud of his children and their many accomplishments and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman, Ed was truly happiest being out in nature fishing, hunting, clamming and mushrooming in the Fall. He was a prolific gardener and loved sharing the bounty of his garden, especially his tomatoes with family, friends, and co-workers. He was a member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club and the American Legion. Ed will be fondly remembered for his love of family, his commitment to his country and community and will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.

Surviving Ed in addition to his wife Elizabeth are his children, Nathaniel Cameron and his wife Lindsay of Houston, Tx, Alexander Cameron of Middleton, Rachel Cameron Grace of Burlington, Washington and Gwen Cameron of Sudbury and his 6 grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his granddaughters, Hannah and Abigail, and for his little Man Julian. He will also be greatly missed by his two dogs, but especially Tobin, his partner in crime, getting treats at the table.

ARRANGEMENTS: At the request of the family all services are private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please check the website for updates. In honor of his lifelong connection swimming, fishing, and canoeing the Ipswich River the family respectfully requests any donations be made to Ipswich River Watershed Association or to Middleton Stream Team.
