Edward F. Gleason's Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Private services and internment were held for Edward F. Gleason, age 93, of Danvers, who died on April 30, 2013. "Captain Ed" was a dedicated yachtsman born in Somerville, an MP U.S.Army Veteran of WW II, and the dedicated husband of the love of his life, the late Anna T. Gleason. Father of Maryann Colanton and husband Don of Mendon, Lois Miele and husband Joseph of Danvers, and Edward Gleason III and wife Karen of Cambridge. He was the grandfather of five loving children and the proud great grandfather of three children. Captain Ed was most content throughout his long life spending leisurely days at sea in one of his many boats named "Spare Time" with his late best friend, "Lucky" and his family. Edward's family believes that the little bird tapping at his living room window was the spirit of Anna and Lucky trying to get back into his life to comfort him. Ed was blessed to spend his last days at the Kaplan Center, cared for by his family and the wonderful people of the Hospice of the North Shore. Contributions may be made in his honor at the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970
