IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward Norman
Ronan, Jr.
June 22, 1964 – November 27, 2023
ROWLEY - Edward ("Eddie") N. Ronan, Jr., born June 22nd, 1964, passed away unexpectedly on November 27th, 2023 at the age of 59. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, JoAnn (DeMatteo) Ronan of Rowley, his daughter, Caitlin (Ronan) Monahan, son-in-law, Joshua Monahan, and grandson, Ronan Monahan of Wenham, his extended family and many friends made throughout his life.
Born to Edward ("Hawk") Ronan, Sr. and Elaine Murphy, and predeceased by his sister, Lisa Murphy, Eddie was a long-time Salem, Massachusetts resident and proud of his tough years growing up in Rainbow Terrace. He took up boxing, but traded in the boxing gloves for workers gloves after graduating from Salem High in 1982. He worked an array of jobs and never shied away from the hard work digging trenches and operating heavy equipment that would eventually lead him to owning and operating his own street sweeping business – Hawk, Jr., Inc. Eddie was fanatical about the Patriots and a season ticket holder many years; everyone was always welcome around his RV to tailgate. Friends and family will miss seeing that red fuzzy visor in the front row.
Eddie was generous with his time and spirit. He loved his Sunday morning walks with his dog Jake, traveling to campsites around New England in the RV with JoAnn, and always making time for family. He couldn't help but spoil his grandson, Ronan, no truck or pool toy was too big; when "Pa Ronan" arrived, it was always an event. Eddie brought everyone at the table into the conversation. He believed in second chances. He lived life with a rare and extraordinary joy as he made good on his own second chance.
