LYNN - Mr. Edwin D. "Sonny" Maynard, 72 of Lynn, passed away on Monday September 22, 2025 at 8:45 AM at Beverly Hospital, in Beverly, Massachusetts.
Sonny was born at J. B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody on July 18, 1953. Born and raised in Peabody he was the son of the late William and Eileen (Brown) Maynard. Sonny grew up in Peabody and Lynn for most of his life. He was always drawn to cars, trucks, motorcycles, tow trucks and heavy equipment, if it had wheels and an engine, he could drive it and did so with exceptional skill. He attended Peabody public schools and was employed for most of his life as a tow truck driver for many different companies on the North Shore, including Harbor Auto Sales in Lynn, Bill Woods Towing, Lynn, Mallia's Towing in Peabody and G & J Towing of Revere.
Sonny loved animals, especially cats. He loved the new England Patriots, and loved to watch old westerns, war movies and documentaries. Sonny loved Dunkin coffees and jelly donuts, his keno and his scratch tickets. He was a loving brother, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Sonny is his son, Jason Maynard of Peabody, his daughter Amanda Black and her partner, Paxton Pugh and her children, Trey, Kailee, and Morgan of Spartanburg, South Carolina, his sisters, Helen Franklin and her husband Walter of Saugus, Denise Maynard of Peabody and Marianne Klanfer of Worchester, and his brother William Maynard and his wife Sue of Salem, his cherished friend and caregiver Dorothy Karigianis of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Ronald Maynard. He also leaves behind his beloved cats Cooper and Fred who brought him great joy in his last years of life.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Monday, October 6th, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM. Graveside service, Tuesday, October 7th at 11 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Please meet directly at the cemetery.
