SALEM - Mrs. Elaine Ruth (Rose) Pooler, 83, of Weymouth, formerly of Salem, died, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Queen Anne Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Salem on May 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Cleophas (Cadegan) Rose. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.

Elaine retired from Shaughnessy Kaplan Rehab Hospital in Salem where she had been employed as a dedicated Senior Nurse's Aid for 25 years. Elaine devoted her life to everyone and was a very loving care giver, always putting others first, above herself. In all her years on earth she was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Elaine was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Parish for many years before she moved to Weymouth.

Elaine moved from Salem in 2010 to Weymouth to reside in the home of her loving daughter Kathy Abbott and loving son- in-law Kevin Abbott, with her puppies Faolan and Kaya where she was very happy for six years. Elaine eventually became a long -term resident at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham for the past two years where she was well cared for and loved by the entire staff. Elaine touched the hearts of everyone including many other patients and roommates at Queen Anne.

Surviving Elaine in addition to her daughter Kathy Abbott and son-in-law Kevin Abbott, are her daughter Lisa Burke and Thomas Burke who she loved very much, loving sister, Patricia Theriault, grandchildren, Lee-Ann and her husband Larry Blais, Bradford Smith and his wife Kara Smith, Matthew Burke, Brian Burke, Amy Burke, Emmi Winter, Jamie Smith, Robert Smith and great- grandson, James Burke, and many nieces and nephews, many dear friends, among them Lynn & Chuck Abbott, Bradford Smith Sr and David Alexander who she adored. Elaine was predeceased by her sister, June Devitt, her niece Paula Theriault, dear best friend Betty Palamara and her former husband Clifford C. Pooler from the Salem Police Department.

ARRANGEMENTS. Her funeral Mass will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church of Mary Queen of the Apostle Parish, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem on Monday, March 26th at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours, in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington, Sq. (at Salem Common) Salem prior to Mass, from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M.
